Straight answers before you book. Still wondering about something? Ask during your consultation.
Working with us
What types of returns do you prepare?
We prepare federal and state returns for individuals (Form 1040), families with dependents, college students claiming education credits, self-employed workers and 1099 contractors, single-member LLCs, small businesses, corporations, and nonprofits.
How early should I schedule my appointment?
The earlier the better. Booking early gives you more choice of appointment times before the busy season, and you can start uploading documents as soon as you have them.
How does working with you work?
You book a consultation and choose the suite that fits you: Virtual, Executive Office, or Mobile. We prepare your return, review it with you, and once you approve, we e-file it. Virtual clients get a secure link to complete their checklist and upload documents.
Do I have to come to an office?
Not unless you want to. Choose the Virtual Suite to work completely remotely, the Executive Office for a one-on-one in-person visit, or the Mobile Suite and we come to you.
How do I send my documents safely?
Use the Tax Return Checklist link to upload your documents. You can find it on this page and in your booking confirmation. Please do not send Social Security numbers or tax forms by regular email or text.
How much will it cost?
Fees are based on how complex your file is, so we do not post flat prices. Your price is locked in at your consultation, before we start. You can pay by card or ACH.
What if I can't pay my tax bill in full?
File on time anyway, since filing late can add penalties. Pay what you can by the deadline, and ask the IRS about a payment plan for the rest. We can talk through your options in a consultation.
What makes Moni LLC different from tax software?
You get one dedicated preparer who learns your situation, looks for every deduction you qualify for, and explains your return in plain English.
Filing and documents
Can you e-file my federal and state returns?
Yes. We file your return electronically with the IRS and your state tax agency.
What documents should I have ready?
Gather your income forms such as W-2s and 1099s, mortgage interest statements (Form 1098), records of deductible expenses, and last year's return if you have it.
What do I need to verify my identity and dependents?
A photo ID, and Social Security cards or numbers for you and any dependents. For dependents, have their birth dates and records that show where they lived during the year.
What do I need if I'm self-employed or have an LLC?
Income records such as 1099-NEC and 1099-K forms, business expense records, mileage if you drive for work, home-office details, your EIN, and any estimated tax payments you made.
What if I earned income in more than one state?
You may need to file a return in each state where you earned income or lived. Tell us about every state when you book and we will sort out the filings.
How long until I get my refund?
It varies. E-filing with direct deposit is usually the fastest route, and the IRS says most refunds arrive within about three weeks. No preparer can guarantee an exact date.
When is the filing deadline?
For most individuals it is April 15, though the date can shift in some years. If you need more time, ask us about filing an extension.
How long should I keep my tax records?
Keep tax returns, receipts, and statements for at least three years. Keep them longer if you have property or business assets.
